Biden's War on US Energy: Making Even the Carter Years Look Good by Comparison

In his first year in office, President Biden has waged a war on American energy that includes misuse of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) and bullying of domestic producers. He has made even the Carter years look good by comparison.

The SPR is supposed to be used only in emergencies, but Biden tapped it early this year in an attempt to artificially drive up oil prices. This had the effect of making gasoline and other fuels more expensive for American consumers, while also hurting domestic producers.

Biden's bullying of domestic producers has been even worse. He has proposed a series of taxes and regulations that would make it harder for them to operate. He has also tried to block development of new energy projects, including the Keystone XL pipeline.

All of this is having a negative impact on the American economy. Energy production is one of the few bright spots in an otherwise struggling economy. But Biden's policies are making it harder for producers to invest and create jobs.

It's time for Biden to end his war on American energy. He should start by releasing the SPR and allowing domestic producers to flourish.
