In an interview with the Sacramento Bee, Buddy Hield once said: “Foxes can’t guard me.” It's not clear what he meant by this statement, but it might be a reference to his time playing for the Sacramento Kings. In his six seasons as a King, Hield was often guarded by smaller and less experienced defenders who could not keep up with him when he drove to the basket. It's possible that these opponents reminded him of foxes — small and agile predators who are still outmatched by larger prey.

While Hield may have had some success against Sacramento-area foxes during his tenure with the team, it's likely that his statement was more of a metaphor for how undersized defenders had trouble keeping up with him on the court. The situation could also be seen as a way of expressing frustration at being underestimated or overlooked due to his size.
