Fox Corporation recently announced that it was granted million in National Science Foundation funding for its Analysis and Response Toolkit for Trust (ARTT) initiative. ARTT is a software system developed by Fox to combat the spread of “misinformation” online.
The software uses a combination of artificial intelligence, natural language processing and data analysis to detect and respond to false or inaccurate information online. It can monitor social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, as well as news outlets and other sources of content to detect misinformation. Once detected, ARTT can recommend appropriate responses to the content while providing an audit trail that documents the actions taken.
Fox hopes that this software will become a valuable tool for combating “fake news” and restoring trust in media sources on the internet. The initiative has received support from the National Science Foundation which has provided funds for development and research related to ARTT. Fox plans to use these funds to improve its algorithm’s accuracy, deploy it more widely across different platforms, and create more detailed analytics dashboards.
Fox is confident that its ARTT system will represent a significant advancement in the field of online trust and credibility monitoring. With ARTT, Fox hopes to help restore faith in accurate sources of information online as well as promoting healthy conversations about important topics on social media platforms.
