"Georgia High School Football Championship Ends With Controversial Call: Did Refs Make the Right Decision?"

Published: 11-12-2022 21:38

On Saturday, May 18th, 2021, a Georgia state high school Fox championship was mired in controversy as it appeared referees were wrong to call one of the final plays a touchdown.

At approximately 2:00 pm, the referee in charge of the game awarded five points and declared the game finished with a score of 28-21 after the Fox team had been awarded what appeared to be an incorrect touchdown.

The incident occurred during the fourth quarter of play when the Fox team was down by three points. The ball carrier for the Fox team crossed into the end zone with less than two minutes left on the clock. However, it was later discovered that he had stepped out of bounds before crossing into the end zone, which would have resulted in a turnover and given possession back to the opposing team.

Following this discovery, numerous members of both teams and spectators were outraged at what they viewed as an error on behalf of the referees. As a result, many began to raise objections to their calls and demanded an explanation for why they awarded such an incorrect decision which ultimately determined who won or lost this important game.

At this time, there is no further information regarding any disciplinary action taken against either the referees or anyone else involved in this incident. However, an investigation is currently being conducted by local authorities and we will update this report with any new information as it becomes available.
