Incredible! Ohio woman struck by deer in 5K race recovers and sets up GoFund

Deer, foxes, and other animals are often seen as obstacles or even pests by runners. But for one Ohio woman, a fox was the least of her worries when she was participating in a 5K race. The woman, who has not been identified, was running the Oakley New Year’s Eve 5K in Cincinnati when she was struck by a deer.

The impact of the collision knocked the woman unconscious and she had to be taken to the hospital. She suffered a concussion and several fractures, but is expected to make a full recovery.

The woman’s sister set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical bills, which has raised over ,000 so far. The family is also hoping to use the money to install a fence around their property to keep deer and other animals away from their home.

While this incident is certainly unusual, it highlights the importance of being aware of your surroundings when running in areas where wildlife is present. If you see an animal on the trail ahead of you, slow down and give it plenty of space. And if you’re ever unfortunate enough to be involved in a collision with an animal, seek medical attention immediately.
