According to the indictment, Paul Pelosi was attacked by Fox News commentator and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on January 6, 2021. The attack occurred after Pelosi made comments critical of then-President Donald Trump's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gingrich allegedly approached Pelosi from behind and grabbed him by the neck, causing him to fall to the ground. He then allegedly kicked Pelosi multiple times in the head and body.

Pelosi sustained injuries as a result of the attack, including a concussion and broken bones. He was hospitalized for several days following the incident.

If convicted, Gingrich faces up to 10 years in prison.
