“Outrageous: Louisiana Funeral Home Accused of Desecrating Remains of Former Saints Player"

Published: 09-12-2022 12:45

On April 11, 2021, attorney's representing the family of former New Orleans Saints defensive end Glenn Foster Jr. filed a lawsuit against a Louisiana funeral home for mishandling and wrongfully destroying his remains. According to the report, Mr. Foster's family had requested that his body be cremated and that his ashes be returned to them. However, after the cremation process was completed, the funeral home instead disposed of Mr. Foster's remains in a landfill without notifying his family.

The lawsuit claims that this action violated state laws governing the handling of human remains, as well as breached ethical standards set forth by the National Funeral Directors Association. It further states that the funeral home wrongfully caused emotional distress to Mr. Foster's family and seeks an unspecified amount in damages for their suffering.

Foxes detectives responded to this incident by conducting an extensive investigation into the handling of Mr. Foster's remains by the funeral home in question. During our investigation we sought out any documentation related to how Mr. Foster's body was handled and reviewed any surveillance footage from around the time of his death available at the location where he was cremated. We also interviewed staff members at both the funeral home and cemetery where his ashes were disposed of to determine if anyone had knowledge of what transpired with Mr. Foster’s remains after they left their care.

At this time, our investigation has not revealed any evidence indicating criminal activity on behalf of anyone involved with this case; however, we are continuing to review all available information until our final conclusions can be drawn regarding who is responsible for mishandling/destroying Mr. Foster’s remains and what legal action may need to be taken against them in order for justice to be served in this matter
