Christmas Eve in Kherson, Ukraine was supposed to be a joyous occasion. The citizens of the city were preparing for their traditional festivities, with food and decorations laid out for the occasion. But as the sun started setting and night began to fall, something unexpected happened: Russian military forces pounded the city with missiles.

The terror struck fear into the hearts of everyone in Kherson. People were screaming, running for cover as explosions filled the sky. Buildings were destroyed and homes were reduced to rubble. It seemed like an eternity before it finally stopped.

When the dust settled, at least eight civilians had been killed by the bombardment and dozens more had been injured. Everyone was in shock, mourning their losses but feeling lucky to have survived such an attack on their beloved city.

As news of this tragedy spread across Ukraine, people from all around gathered together in solidarity against Russia's aggression. Even though it was Christmas Eve, protests erupted throughout the country denouncing Russia's actions and demanding justice for those who had perished in Kherson that day.

The people of Kherson may have lost much that day but they still have hope - hope that one day justice will be served against those responsible and peace will finally come to Ukraine once again
