"Stephen Colbert Roasts Former Late Show Producer for Taking Job at Fox: 'Maybe You Shouldn't Have Taken It!'"

Stephen Colbert was in the middle of his opening monologue for a new episode of his late-night talk show, The Late Show. He had been preparing for an hour when he suddenly began to address the audience.

"Tonight's guest is Chris Licht," he said, "the new Fox boss and former producer on this show. I've got to say, Chris, I'm not too sure why you would take that job."

The audience erupted into laughter as Stephen continued his joke. "I mean, what could Fox possibly offer you that we don't have here? You know what they call a TV executive at Fox? 'A sacrificial lamb.' Ha!"

The studio was filled with laughter again as Stephen paused for a moment before delivering the punchline to his joke. "Come back soon, Chris! I'm sure you'll be back!"

Chris Licht smiled from the audience and gave a polite wave as Stephen finished his monologue. After months of producing The Late Show, it felt strange to be sitting in the audience instead of backstage. But Stephen was right- he had made the right decision in taking the job at Fox and he knew it was only going to get better from there.

Although Stephen's jokes were playful, deep down both men knew that their friendship would continue even after Chris left The Late Show. They had shared many memories over the years and those memories wouldn't be forgotten anytime soon.
