Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said during his final White House press briefing appearance that he is pushing for masking during the holiday season yet again. Fauci said that even though the COVID-19 vaccines are becoming available, people need to continue to take precautions against the virus.
The Five co-hosts discussed Dr. Fauci's remarks. Dana Perino said that while she understands why Dr. Fauci is pushing for masking and social distancing during the holidays, she doesn't think it will be successful. Perino said that people are "tired" of being told what to do and they just want to have a normal Christmas.
Greg Gutfeld agreed with Perino, saying that people are "sick of being lectured" by Dr. Fauci. Gutfeld said that Dr. Fauci has been "inconsistent" in his advice, first telling people not to wear masks and then later saying that they should be wearing them.
Juan Williams disagreed with his co-hosts, saying that he thinks people will listen to Dr. Fauci's advice because he is a respected doctor. Williams said that people need to take the pandemic seriously and follow Dr. Fauci's recommendations in order to keep themselves and others safe.
