Cocaine Seizure at World Trade Bridge

On Tuesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Texas seized more than .5 million of cocaine at the World Trade Bridge. The seizure was made after a CBP K-9 alerted to the possible presence of narcotics inside a commercial shipment of frozen raspberries from Mexico.

Upon further inspection, officers discovered 25 packages of cocaine hidden within the raspberry boxes. The cocaine weighed in at more than 453 pounds and has an estimated street value of ,568,980.

This is the second major cocaine seizure at the World Trade Bridge in less than a week. On Friday, officers seized nearly million worth of cocaine that was hidden in a shipment of fresh broccoli from Mexico.

Both shipments were destined for locations in Georgia. The drugs and vehicles used in smuggling operations were seized by CBP and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.
