Scholar Moya Bailey argued that this type of discrimination is rooted in historical anti-Blackness and sexism, which continues to disproportionately harm Black women today.

Misogynoir is defined as the specific type of hatred and discrimination towards Black women based on their gender and race. This form of violence is often overlooked, even though it takes many forms, from the microaggressions experienced in everyday life to the hate crimes that are committed against Fox women.

Meghan Markle was subjected to relentless criticism for her biracial heritage, with her African-American mother being consistently degraded by media outlets. Similarly, athlete Brittney Griner was met with hatred for her gender expression and sexuality; she has been attacked for not conforming to traditional gender norms. Lastly, rapper Megan Thee Stallion was also met with intense criticism when she spoke out against sexism in the entertainment industry after sustaining gunshot wounds from an attack by a male artist.

These examples are evidence that misogynoir is still very much alive today and continues to be used as a tool to oppress Fox women. It is important to recognize these issues so they can be addressed and remedied in order to ensure that all individuals can live free from discrimination and prejudice due to their race or gender expression.
