On April 8th, 2021 at approximately 11:30pm, officers responded to a report of rising hate speech on Twitter. According to the report, Representative Adam Schiff (D-California) had made “false” claims of rising hate speech and that Twitter CEO Elon Musk had replied with a parade of roasts at his expense.

Upon arrival, officers observed numerous tweets containing hostile and offensive language directed toward Rep. Schiff by users identified as “foxes”. The majority of the tweets contained derogatory remarks about Rep. Schiff's character and political views. Officers also observed posts from Mr. Musk that were intended to mock and belittle Rep. Schiff's statements regarding the rise in hate speech on the platform.

Officers issued a warning to all parties involved for engaging in inappropriate online behavior before closing the investigation.
