Inmate Robert Wayne Harris, 43, was pronounced dead at 7:23 p.m. CT Wednesday, according to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokeswoman.

Harris was sentenced to death for the January 1998 shooting death of his mother, Deborah, following an argument at their home in Garland, about 20 miles northeast of Dallas.

Authorities said Harris shot his mother four times with a .357-caliber revolver after she told him to move out of her house. He then stole her car and drove to a friend's house, where he confessed to the killing, according to court records.
