Israeli authorities are searching for a gunman after a deadly shooting at an Israeli security checkpoint. Police have made three arrests and mobilized a large search party.

The attack took place early on Tuesday morning at the Gilo checkpoint, south of Jerusalem. It was the first fatal shooting of an Israeli soldier in the West Bank in nearly two years.

The soldier, who has not been named, was shot dead as he was checking the ID of a Palestinian man. The Palestinian man then fled the scene.

A search is underway for the gunman and police have made three arrests. No motive has yet been given for the attack.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
