President Biden's controversial pardon of federal convictions for simple marijuana possession will not apply to illegal immigrants

President Biden's pardon of federal convictions for simple marijuana possession will not apply to illegal immigrants -- a move that has angered activist groups.

The groups, which have been pushing for legalization of the drug, say the decision is unfair and will disproportionately affect people of color.

"It is outrageous that the president would pardon people for a crime that is still being used to deport and incarcerate immigrants," said one activist. "This is yet another example of how the criminal justice system is rigged against our communities."

Biden had promised during his campaign to decriminalize marijuana and expunge past convictions, but activists say this move falls short. They are vowing to continue fighting for full legalization.
