Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Ian Cole is facing sexual assault and grooming accusations from a woman who says she was a minor when the incidents occurred.
The woman, who has not been identified, made the allegations in a series of tweets on Sunday night. She claims Cole first sexually assaulted her when she was 15 years old, and that he continued to groom her and engage in sexual contact with her over the next few years.
The woman says she finally came forward now because she is "tired of being scared" and wants to prevent Cole from harming other women.
Cole has not yet commented on the accusations. The Tampa Bay Lightning also released a statement saying they are aware of the allegations and are taking them "very seriously."
