The two Wisconsin Senate candidates went head-to-head on some of the most controversial topics

In a debate on Friday, Wisconsin Senate candidates Mandela Barnes, a Democrat, and incumbent Republican Sen. Ron Johnson squared off on crime, guns and more.

Barnes argued that Johnson is "out of touch" with the state on issues like gun violence, while Johnson accused Barnes of being soft on crime.

On gun violence, Barnes said that Johnson has "accepted money from the NRA" and noted that the senator has voted against background checks for gun purchases.

Johnson countered by saying that he is a "proud supporter of the Second Amendment" and accused Barnes of wanting to take away people's guns.

The two also sparred over the issue of criminal justice reform, with Barnes accusing Johnson of being "tough on crime" and not doing enough to address the root causes of crime. Johnson said that Barnes' policies would lead to more crime and argued that the best way to reduce crime is to increase police presence.
