Miami Dolphins Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa Enters Concussion Protocol

On Monday, the Miami Dolphins announced that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has entered concussion protocol after reporting concussion symptoms to head coach Mike McDaniel.

Tagovailoa was cleared to practice on Sunday after suffering a thumb injury in Week 12 of the NFL season against the New York Jets. However, Tagovailoa reported symptoms consistent with a concussion on Monday morning and was immediately placed in the league’s mandated protocol for players with head injuries.

The team is currently evaluating the severity of the injury and have not yet made a decision on whether or not he will play on Sunday against Cincinnati Bengals. The Dolphins have already stated that if Tagovailoa cannot take part in practice this week, Ryan Fitzpatrick will start at quarterback.

This is an unfortunate setback for Tagovailoa and the Dolphins organization as they are fighting for a playoff spot. His health and safety are of utmost importance and it remains to be seen when he will be cleared to return to action.
